Corky & Paul Brommenschenkel—Ada Electric, Ada MN
Thank you for 50 years of membership!! On May 1, Ada Electric celebrated 50 years of membership with the Electrical Association! Ada Electric is a family-owned business that has been serving the community of Ada, MN and the surrounding areas. Ada Electric was founded by Paul’s father, Cornelius “Corky” Brommenschenkel back in 1972. Paul knew he wanted to have a career like his dad where he could work with his hands and not have to wear a suit and tie every day. After getting his Bachelor’s degree in management from the University of North Dakota, Paul joined his dad working full time at Ada Electric in 1992. In 2009, Cornelius retired and Paul had a purchase agreement to take over his father’s business. ... (May 2023)

Warren Olson—Olson & Son's Electric, Monticello
Happy 60th membership anniversary to Olson and Sons Electric! The business first started in 1959 by Milton Olson. When the business grew too large to operate out of the home and the city would not allow them to build an adjoining warehouse, the Olson’s built a second home to house the business opting for an open floorplan without walls. Eventually the business grew large enough to move to its current location on 5 acres of land off of I94 in Monticello. ... (Nov 2022)

Matt Bergmann, Laketown Electric Corporation (LEC)
Laketown Electric of Waconia was started by David and Christine Bergmann in 1975. It was originally a union shop named Bergmann Electric, but became nonunion in 1982 when the union rejected David’s brother and changed its name to Laketown Electric Corporation (LEC). Matt grew up performing electrical as a teen, but upon high school graduation left home for college where he received degrees in Business Management and Communication. In 2010 his dad called him back to Laketown to help resurrect the business, which was suffering due to the Great Recession. Unfortunately, in 2012 David passed away. Shares of the company were passed on to Christine. In 2016, Matt purchased Laketown with his brother... (March 2022)

Kris Thompson & Dan Fournier, Stafford Home Service—St. Louis Park
For this month’s Member Spotlight, we feature Kris Thompson and Dan Fournier of Stafford Home Service in St Louis Park, MN. The company was founded in 1951 by original owner, Curt Cervin, under the name Cervin Electric. In 1973, the company was sold to Paul Stafford. The service technicians for Paul Stafford Electric were easy to identify by the work vehicles they drove: hearses! Several decades later and in retirement, Mr. Stafford could still be seen driving a hearse as his personal vehicle...  (Jan 2022)

The Kopperuds—Norman's Electric Service, Rushford
It all started in 1917 when Norman Kopperud was born to Ole and Hermina on a farm near Bratsberg, MN. As Norm grew up, he demonstrated his interests in inventing and building. As a teenager he repaired shoes for his family and neighbors, built a field tractor with parts from junked vehicles, and built 80 hymnal racks for the pews at Highland prairie church, to name a few. It’s no wonder he became interested in a new technology called electricity, which he could only experiment with using batteries, because they had no electricity on the farm. He decided to pursue this technology, and with the help of a loan from an aunt, he attended the nearest electrical school, which was in Los Angeles... (Nov 2021)

Kyle Jakubiec—Amplified Electric, St Joseph
Congratulations to Amplifed Electric Inc. for their 5-year anniversary with the Electrical Association. Amplified Electric provides Commercial, Industrial, Residential, new construction, remodel and maintenance electrical services. Kyle Jakubiec works in the field with his crew while his wife Deanna handles the books. Amplified Electric joined the association to make use of our Apprentice Training Course. Kyle appreciates the electrical theory instruction that goes hand-in-hand with his on-the-job training. While many of our contractors specialize, Amplified does it all. From replacing a GFCI, to mid- to large-scale commercial, the company’s philosophy is developing relationships with customers and maintaining those relationships... (Sept 2021)

John Larson—Bear Valley Electric, Menomonie, WI
We are excited to feature John Larson, owner of Bear Valley Electric in our newsletter this month! Bear Valley Electric is a family-owned-and-operated electrical contracting company that was founded in 1991. John’s father, Tom Larson started the business after the Uniroyal Tire Factory in Eau Claire announced it was closing. John took over for his father in 2010 when Tom retired from contracting to become a Wisconsin state legislator. Bear Valley Electric is located in Menomonie, WI, and they provide professional, affordable services for commercial, industrial, sand mine, agriculture and residential customers... (July 2021)

Terry Harmon—Dependable Electric, Coon Rapids
Terry Harmon of Dependable Electric is celebrating 25 years of membership with the Electrical Association! Thank you, Terry, for your loyalty to our organization. Terry grew up helping in his father’s saw sharpening business. As part of that, he would take apart the machines to replace blades. One of his father’s customers owned an electric motor repair shop and Terry had opportunity to tag along. This customer visit inspired his entry into the electrical industry... (May 2021)

Brian Welling, Fulda Electric Service
For this month’s Member Spotlight, we feature Brian Welling of Fulda Electric Service Inc. 2021 marks the shop’s 50th year in business and 50th year as an Electrical Association member! The company was founded in 1971 by Don Welling, Brian’s father, in the Southwestern Minnesota town of Fulda. Business expanded from primarily farm and residential work to include more commercial jobs, and by the early 90s, the shop had expanded into South Dakota, purchasing a warehouse site in the town of Brandon... Jay Tornquist—Willmar Electric
We are proud to feature Jay Tornquist of Willmar Electric. 2020 marks a monumental achievement for Willmar Electric, as the company celebrates its 100th year in business! Jay grew up in Kerkhoven, home of the infamous Tom Freetly, a past Chair of the Board for the Electrical Association. Jay and his wife, Kathy, live in Willmar, where they have lived for 22 years. They are proud parents of Peter, Hannah, Abby and Nathan, and have five grandchildren... (Nov 2020)

The Klein Family—Klein Electric, St. Cloud, MN
Happy 50th membership anniversary! My how time flies! It all started in 1969, when Roger operated Klein Electric out of his garage. At first it was just Roger’s car that had to park outside, but then business grew and Darlene had to park her car outside too. Eventually the business grew larger than the garage, and in 1972, Roger & Darlene moved to the farm where there was plenty of room to expand and where the business still resides today... (Sept 2020)

His passion for learning how things work and his detail-oriented personality made him a great fit for the electrical industry. Jayson worked for many years as a foreman, running work and in a service truck and gaining knowledge in the field.
