Josh Beecher--Alexandria Electric, Benson MN

This summer, Alexandria Electric will be celebrating 60 years of membership with the Electrical Association! Since 1945, Alexandria Electric has been offering commercial, residential, industrial wiring and electrical services to those in the community and surrounding areas. 

Josh Beecher had his first experience with electrical work at a young age. His father worked as a maintenance electrician at a local retirement home and Josh would help out from time to time. The summer after high school, Josh began doing some work for Loen Electric, Inc. He then went on to get his degree at U of M Moorehead. Josh began working for Alexandria Electric full-time in 2005 and became the manager in 2021. 

There are a lot of mental and physical challenges that can make the job seem overwhelming to those that are just starting out in the electrical industry. Josh learned early on that observing experienced workers who have been in the industry longer is important. When he was an apprentice, Josh would listen and watch the journeyworkers that he was working alongside to understand what is needed to complete the task at hand. 

Josh is one of the lucky ones that really loves what he does. Josh is proud of the work that he and his team accomplish. Seeing his employees happy with the work that they have done is very rewarding to him. He strives to make the atmosphere at work great and a part of that is having a small team that gets along well and are committed to doing great work. Josh enjoys seeing the work that his team has done throughout the community when he is driving around town. 

The Electrical Association website has helped Josh keep the team up to date on the latest information they need to be successful on the jobsite. He uses the site to order latest code books and uses the tool box talks available to help keep his staff safe. 

When he’s not a work, Josh enjoys spending time with his family and outdoors. He is very involved with his kids’ basketball teams, which keeps him very busy. If he’s not at a sporting event, Josh likes to be outdoors going on camping trips, hunting or fishing.
